Scholarships


We want to make sure sports are as accessible as possible for kids to start honing skills and making sports something they want to keep coming back to season after season. We have also partnered with STRIKE Energy and  a number of our sports organizations to offer the FSMSA Strike Scholarship to recognize and reward senior high school students that participate in FSMSA sports and encourage them to pursue post-secondary studies. There are three different tiers of the Strike Scholarship:

STRIKE Gold Scholarship: $1000 awarded to applicants

STRIKE Silver Scholarship: $500 awarded to applicants

STRIKE Bronze Scholarship: $250 awarded to applicants

Eligibility: To be eligible for these scholarships, applicants must be students with full-time enrollment at a post-secondary institution in Fall 2026 or Winter 2027. Scholarships awarded will prefer current high school students graduating in June 2026, however any post-secondary student that has participated in FSMSA sports are eligible for the 2026 Strike Scholarship. Proof of enrollment at a post-secondary institution will be required before monetary disbursement.

Applicants must have been involved in at least 1 season of an FSMSA sport to be considered for the Scholarship. Applicants with more involvement within the FSMSA will be highly considered. Involvement in the FSMSA sport includes registered players, coaches, game officials and volunteers. FSMSA Sports include: baseball, fastball, gymnastics, hockey, judo, lacrosse, ringette, soccer and basketball within Fort Saskatchewan.

Selection: Applicants will be selected based on a combination of their academic success, athletic accomplishments, and volunteerism / community involvement. Selection will prefer current graduating high school students.

Requirements:

  1. Your most recent high school/post-secondary transcript. Final 2026 school year report card or proof of high school graduation is not required for applicants.

  2. A letter of recommendation / reference from a volunteer coordinator, school teacher, principal, coach, etc.

  3. Short responses to a number of eligibility questions

  4. A long answer response (500 words or less) to the following question: How has the leadership, growth, perseverance, and dedication you experienced within sport prepared you for post-secondary education?
